The end of 2020 is finally upon us. I will be discussing next week my tech predictions for 2021, many of which will reflect changes COVID has had on how we live and work.

However, I am first going to revisit my 2020 predictions from a year ago. These were all written before COVID began spreading in the United States, so expect most of them to have missed the mark.

1. Augmented reality (AR) will become more mainstream. No one seemed super concerned with this issue throughout the year … partly because most people didn’t go too far out of their homes.

Augmented reality is based in the physical world (virtual reality or VR is a completely digital world). This difference is why AR is a great tool for things such as self-guided tours, maps or just even entertainment (like Pokemon Go). It is a digital layer put on top of the real world.
