Classes

YWCA Westmoreland, 424 N. Main St., Greensburg, will offer several technology classes during January at the center. They are:

• A cyber security workshop, 2 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16. Cost: $15.

• A computer basics class, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Jan. 9, 10, 16 and 17. Cost: $20.

• Smartphones and tablets class, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Jan. 11, 12, 18 and 19. Cost: $20

• Microsoft Word, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Jan. 22, 24, 29 and 31. Cost: $20.

Fundraisers

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a turkey dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at the church. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-396-8065 or 724-244-2586.

• Mt. Pleasant Veterans of Foreign Wars will have a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 14 at the post, 416 W. Main St. Menu: pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee and water. Cost: $10; age 4 to 12, $5; 3 and younger, free. Bloody marys and mimosas will be available. Proceeds will benefit local veterans and the community.

Meetings

• Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the club, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Rostraver Township. Membership applications from men and women welcome. Details: 724-984-6611 or [email protected].

• Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be a demonstration of brioche knitting. Bring something that you made or are working on. Guests and new members welcome. Details: Lorraine, 724-836-6323.

Senior Citizen News

• Irwin Senior Activity Center will celebrate National Milk Day with sundaes at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at the center in First Methodist Church, 310 Oak St. A movie afternoon with snacks will be at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17. Details: 724-787-1760 or [email protected].

Sports

• Rostraver Sportsmens and Conservation Association, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Belle Vernon, will hold trap shoots from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, at 10 a.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. Saturdays. Public welcome. Details: 724-984-6611 or rostraversca.org.

Veterans News

A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, suite 5. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits issues and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
